Day SIX of Inktober. I am so far behind schedule. Had a five day trip to Chicago with my wife. We met up with some friends of ours from Rochester, NY. One of our friends was running in the Chicago Marathon this past weekend.

I came home today and finally finished this piece. I have created sketches and ideas for the next few pieces for Days 7 through 10 (four artworks total), but I have no idea how I'm going to catch up at this point. The next batch of Days 11 through 20 have not been worked on at all.

Anyway, enough negativity. I just need to keep moving forward.

Ogres are a type of monster depicted throughout history as a large, hideous, humanoid being that eats ordinary human beings, especially infants and children.

I decided to stick pretty closer to that description in my pen and ink illustration. I made some preliminary drawings (see below).

I was deeply inspired by the book, the BFG by Roald Dahl, since I was a kid. While those creatures were not ogres (they were giants), I did remember them loving the taste of children and humans. I made my own version as an overweight man with the body that looks close to a young baby. The unnaturalness of the proportions is what I was aiming for.

I changed up my approach to the cross hatching, going for looser lines to speed things up, but of course, I slowed myself down designing the building and messing with one point perspective. I was stuck in a few spots for a while problem solving spacing issues.

While not perfect, I think the general piece works as a whole.
