Rejected Society Of Illustrators Student Show Submissions 2009

Been real busy lately as the deadline for the Society of Illustrators was today. I will make this blog short just cause nothing is coming to mind at the moment.

First we have two pieces from the series I've started called Kids With Guns

Painting of a child posing with two NERF guns by Alex Ariza
Johnny Acrylic on 16 x 24 in. Masonite board 2009

Justin Acrylic on 16 x 24 in. Masonite board 2009
I also did this piece especially for the show itself within the span of three days. Really happy how it came out. I give credit to my brother Richard for pushing me to get extra detailed, pain in the ass, but totally worth it.

Sleep Paralysis painting by Alex Ariza
A Cowboy's Worst Nightmare Acrylic on 20 x 32 in. watercolor paper 2009
That's all for now folks. New projects coming soon!

  1. I really like how the kids with guns came out. I still think it would be a nice change up if you did one of a little innocent looking girl holding a gun.
Very good job adding the extra strip on the bottom of the horse piece. I wouldn't be able to tell at all had you not told me.
Now all we can do is wait for the results. And that part sucks.

  2. I like that your painting and line work have learned to live in perfect harmony. like I told you the horse piece is great and is like a preview of the crazy things to come with this style.

  3. Little man: I feelin your horse with pink ruffled undies better than the rest. Keep it up. If I had to be a jerk I would debate with your green background...but I dont feel like it today. :P
